The coccyx, generally often called the tailbone, is a triangular bone situated on the base of the backbone. It’s composed of 4 fused vertebrae and is the final bone within the vertebral column. The coccyx supplies attachment factors for muscle tissues and ligaments and helps to help the pelvic ground.
The coccyx will be fractured or dislocated resulting from trauma, comparable to a fall or a direct blow to the buttocks. Fractures of the coccyx will be painful and should trigger problem sitting or strolling. Dislocations of the coccyx will also be painful and should require surgical procedure to appropriate.
